Rest In Peace

It's the last day of the term.

Received the message of Neo's decease from his wife on the way to school early in the morning. Stopped my car at the roadside to let the tears flowed for a while, and then, continued with my journey to the school again...

Dear Boon Keon, may you rest in peace......

UPSR again!

Finally, fought off the virus without going back to the doctor! No more bad cough and fever, and my antibody should have grown stronger after this battle.

Three more days before the UPSR! Got my 6B and 6J students prepared for my subject! Looking forward to their best performance after working hard together with them since beginning of the year. Hopefully they will try their best during the exam and there will be no regret among them after that!

Good luck boys and girls, you can definitely make it!

Sick

Two weeks passed, and I am still fighting hardly with the most stubborn virus within me!

Life was such hectic for the past month with so many exercises, tests and assignments on statistic study to be done! Even the dreams at night were also made up by chi square, F-ratio, t-test, z-test, ANOVA test, Post Hoc test, Kruskel Wallis test etc...

In addition, there were students' exam sheets to be marked, scores to be recorded, homework to be marked, data to be keyed in, holiday class to be conducted....

And in the end, exhausted and fall sick!

I couldn't afford to miss the lectures or to give up any of the assignments as well as test and exam just because I am badly sick as I do not wanna be left out during next year's graduation too. And the only person that I could reach for help was the doctor.
However, the medicine given by the doctor didn't work well, and yet, although statistic class and exam were already over, but the viruses are still there.

Bad cough and fever keeps pestering me, and I still need to work, as UPSR is around the corner.
Got to go back to the doctor again, and this time, the same request will be made again:

Don't prescribe medicine that makes me drowsy after taking, I need to stay awake to work!

A Heart-warming Day

Received an unexpected but pleasing message while having holiday class in the school this morning!
It's from Fung Ming, my old boy from SJKC Ldg Pengkalan Bukit, the first school I went to when I first started my teaching career, hoping that we could meet and have lunch together.
How very excited I was to be able to hear from him again since I last heard from him when he rang me up from Malacca after getting straight A's for his PMR, and we haven't seen each other since he left the school.

Fung Ming came to the school to fetch me for lunch when my class ended at noon.
We were really glad to meet with each other again after around 18 years we were separated, and what a matured, smart, humble, compassionate, loving and wise young man he has become now!
We had lunch together and shared lots of the nostalgic memories of those happy and peaceful days while we were learning together in the estate. We were thankful to each other for having a really good time together in the past. We talked about how we prepared for the story telling contest together, how he used to get first place in the class for the school exams as there were only three of them in the class, ha!
How very comfortable and heart-warming it was to hear him sharing his life experience and wisdom with me! And from the achievement of his career at his age, I am sure he has been striving really hard and he has really made me proud of him!

Thank you boy for your most heart-warming visit, you have really made my day, all the best to you in your career and may your family be blessed forever...

Great Leader

Today, we have lots of discussions on the characteristics that should be possessed by an effective leader. To me, a successful leader should basically be humble, caring, understanding as well as one who always treasure and appreciate the contribution of his subordinates. An effective leader will always share and discuss the policies of the organization with his subordinates and try to draw constructive ideas from them. He should always listen and help to solve the problems of his subordinates, he always talks less but listens more, and praises more but reprimands less.

Poor leadership will bring frustration and depression among the members within the organization and it will cause low morale creeps in the workplace. Low morale would influence productivity, increase work errors and decrease cooperation between  members and teams, and if left ignored, will lead to more and more problems.

Most subordinates need the attention from their leaders. Showing appreciation towards their contribution will help to build their self-confidence and to lift the working spirit among them.

In conclusion, great leaders care more about those they lead than themselves.

Leader

I like to attend class on leadership, as through what we learned from the class, we will be able to find and count all the weaknesses and faults of our leaders, though we were actually there to learn about how to be an effective leader,ha!

After being overwhelmed with so much frustration and depression under the new management and leadership throughout last year, and is now still struggling so hard to adjust myself to the changes which do not seem to have brought much improvement to the organization but lots of grumbles and dejection among the staffs, I feel really thankful to have a lecturer who is such thoughtful and compassionate to be with us today.

Dear Dr Khadijah, thanks for touching and softening my heart as well as reviving my spirit which had been so down throughout the past year. Thanks for all the inspiring and motivating words you shared with us during the lecture. I feel comfortable to attend your lecture not just because we do not have exam for this subject, but because I am very much impressed by your philosophy of life and your sincerity in sharing your experience and knowledge with us, and I wish that our leaders were all here to listen to you too. To me, you are such a kind, caring and authentic leader and you have also helped me found again my gradually lost enthusiasm in my teaching career. I believe I shall gain a lot out of your class and I promise to try my best to practice the good qualities of a leader in the rest of the years of my teaching career.

Thank you, Dr Khadijah and may God bless you.

Thank you, Ah Jib Gor!

YEH!!!
At last, I have also benefited from 1 Malaysia since the slogan was shouted in 2010!

Compared to the RM38 million spent on the promotion of 1Malaysia, it's just a drop in the ocean; and compared to the the RM250 million spent on the cows, it's just... ...

Oops! Should keep my mouth sealed with the vouchers...
Oops! Sorry, they are not for sealing my mouth but to purchase books to improve myself!

Better do not comment too much but to thank Ah Jib Gor for the vouchers!
Thank you Ah Jib Gor, you are just like the God of Wealth recently. You know, the God of Wealth is the most welcome God to the Chinese.

Thank you and gong xi fa cai   :D
